My Story — How I Found My Way Into Decluttering

Professional organizer and founder of Home Clarity Decluttering in Bedale, North Yorkshire

Some people discover their calling suddenly. Mine arrived quietly, over years, in the small moments most people overlook.

I’ve always been someone who feels at peace when things fall into place. Even as a child, I loved concentrating on a task, sorting through drawers, tidying shelves, and creating order out of chaos. It wasn’t about perfection — it was about the calm that came afterwards, the feeling of breathing easier in a space that finally made sense.

Years later, when I lived in India, something shifted for me. It was the first time I truly saw how differently people experience clutter. What felt natural to me — grouping, sorting, creating systems — wasn’t instinctive for everyone. That experience opened my eyes to how much support, patience, and understanding people sometimes need to feel at home in their own space.

Over the years, I’ve helped friends declutter their homes — sometimes as emotional support, sometimes as a practical pair of hands. Those moments showed me the other side of decluttering: the relief, the confidence, the lightness people feel when their space finally supports them instead of overwhelming them.

These experiences shaped the heart of my business.

Today, through Home Clarity Decluttering, I’m dedicated to offering gentle, practical, non‑judgemental support to anyone who wants a calmer home. I help you create space, restore order, and build simple systems that make everyday life easier. My approach is warm, minimalist, and always tailored to real homes and real people.

My goal is simple: to help you feel lighter, clearer, and more at ease in your own space.

Booking process

1 — Initial Video Call

Before any in‑home session, we start with a short video call to assess the scale of your project. During this call, we’ll talk through your space, your goals, and any specific details from your side — such as areas of focus, donation preferences, or time constraints.

2 — Terms & Agreement

After the call, I’ll send you the Terms and Conditions document. Please read it carefully — it outlines how sessions work, confidentiality, and client responsibilities. Once you’re happy, you’ll sign the agreement electronically to confirm your booking.

3 — Selecting Your Appointment

We’ll choose a suitable day and time for your session together. Appointments are available on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (with adjusted rates).

4 — Payment

To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required in advance. The remaining balance is paid after the service is completed. All payments are confirmed in writing for transparency and peace of mind.

5 — Your Session

On the day, we’ll work together at a comfortable pace to declutter and organise your space. You’ll stay in control of every decision, and I’ll guide you gently through the process.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

First of all, there is no need to put things away or tidy up your house before I come.

When I arrive at your home, we begin with a gentle walk‑through of the space you’d like help with. You can share what feels overwhelming, what isn’t working, and what you’d love the space to feel like. This helps us set a calm, realistic plan for the session.

We then work together at a comfortable pace. I guide you through simple decisions and help you sort items into clear categories. There is never any pressure — you stay fully in control of what stays and what goes.

I’m not aiming to sell organising props, but I’m always happy to discuss and suggest potential options if you’re interested in adding new items. My focus is on using what you already have to create simple, sustainable systems that fit naturally into your daily life.

As we declutter, we talk through what can be donated, recycled, or thrown away. I help you organise these items so the process feels easy and manageable.

All conversations during our session are strictly confidential and completely non‑judgemental. Your home, your belongings, and your story are treated with respect at every step. This is an essential part of my service.

By the end of the session, your space will feel lighter, clearer, and easier to maintain, with systems that support you long after I leave.
